Curiosity is currently exploring Gale Crater, ascending the slopes of its enormous central mountain, Sharp. One of the areas of interest is a geological formation called the Murray Formation, the origin of which is still unknown. A mysterious rock from another world was found underneath it.

Mars has a long history of bombardment by rocks from space.
