Saturn's Rings
Saturn is known as the most beautiful planet in our solar system, mainly due to its stunning rings. These rings are made of trillions of small pieces of rock, dust, and ice particles, stretching tens of thousands of kilometres in both directions around the planet. While the exact origins of the rings are still unknown, scientists believe they were likely formed by the break-up of a comet or asteroid that came too close to Saturn. Some of the particles in the rings have been found to have icy compositions, which is an indication that they may have formed from a larger body, such as a moon, at some point in Saturn’s history.
